Getting Sh*t DONE

We've spent the last three weeks getting our minds ready for this. You have learned that in order to REALLY get SH*T done you need to have the thoughts to do it all. Don't make this a bigger obstacle than necessary. Just like going to the gym and exercising your muscles, it's going to hurt at first. Once you learn that you can live with the pain (which really is a good kind of pain because mentally you know you are doing good to yourself) you will keep going because you will start to see the results. Not only will you have a clean and organized home you will also be freeing up your mind of all the mental chatter of your to do list. Aren't the excuses in your head getting old? Think about this, we are entering into the holiday season. You will be doing yourself a favor if you get a handle on your home now. You will be able to enjoy the holiday season if you are organized. Right now all I can think about is my oldest daughter is going to be gone away at college this time next year. I'm trying to spend as much time as possible with her and my other two kids. I'm really focused on our family time, be it dinners together, weekends doing a fun activity, etc. Knowing she won't be here next year motivates me to get my SH*T together TODAY so I can do fun things with everyone together when the moments present themselves. We are all going different directions and when a opportunity to do something together arises it's really easy for us to do something because I'm staying on top of my to do's and mental chatter. It's a BEAUTIFUL thing!!!!
I have talked about 10 minutes tasks in the past. What I failed to add is that it's your thoughts around the 10 minute tasks that make them possible or impossible. Here's how I get in gear... Let me break this down.
Have you noticed that overwhelm is usually accompanied by dread? We usually aren’t overwhelmed when we have a lot of work we can’t wait to do. It’s usually the work we aren’t looking forward to that brings up negative, overwhelming thoughts. So I have a solution. When you notice that your mind keeps dreading and you feel overwhelmed… Ask yourself this... What can I do for 10 minutes to work on this? Just do something for 10 minutes--anything related to getting it done. It might be writing, or cleaning out ONE drawer. Or one shelf in the pantry. Or ironing clothes.
Or making that Dr. appointment.
Canceling that membership or magazine. When you think about all the work you have to do, you might get overwhelmed. When you think about 10 minutes of work, you will start taking action.
Just do 10 minutes.
Your mind will change in order to get started. That’s the change we are looking for.
Life Coaching Now Available
Life Coaching is not about giving advice or focusing on traumas of your past, but rather showing you your thoughts and how they are impacting your life so that you are empowered to choose different thoughts and ultimately get different results in your life.
I am happy to coach on anything you'd like to work on. It doesn't have to be about organizing. It can be anything that you find yourself dwelling on and not making forward progress in your life, i.e. a situation with a friend, sister, brother, husband, mother, teacher, etc.
As your Life Coach I would not empathize with you, cry with you or judge you… it's different than talking to you as you would your friends, sisters, brothers, husbands, wives, mothers, fathers.
I would be a COACH.
I would simply help show you what's going on in your brain and we would look at that together. We would talk about any problem or frustration you are having or anything you want to change about your life.
