Shopping With Intention

Do you find yourself asking yourself, "how did I accumulate so much stuff"? This question often pops into your mind when you have decided to NOT procrastinate any longer and clean out your closet or garage or any other space that is giving you anxiety every time you lay eyes on it. I think garages take the cake when it comes to an area in your home that accumulates the most stuff. A lot of us use the garage to put things that we don't want to deal with at the current time. But, what ends up happening is that you forget what's out there and the pile of stuff just grows and grows.

Solution: Shop with Intention! What do I mean by this? No more impulse buys. When you go to Target for the things on your shopping list, ONLY purchase what is on your list. Kudos to Target for their marketing strategy and product placement and for great buyers and merchandisers! The price point is perfect and sucks all of us in! How many times have you gone to Target with a list of five things and come home spending at $100 more than you planned? It is so tempting to purchase small finds especially when that cute t-shirt that would look adorable on your niece is only $5?? So, again shop with intention. Only purchase what is on your list. If you do happen to succumb to the impulse buy a good rule of thumb is for every new item you purchase an old item must be donated or given to a friend.

This is important when you shop anywhere. Don't over stock up on cleaning supplies, home goods, and accessories. Be mindful and take inventory on what you really need before you shop. This will help with your budget and also reduce the clutter that it will become if you are overloaded with stuff! Remember, the more stuff you own, the more you must manage. All of this stuff wears us down mentally!

Fun Fact: Did you know, that on average, the clothing in our closets, we only where 20% of the 80% of the time? The rest just sits there for the just in case occasions!

As Always,

Keep it Sweet and Neat
