Summer Vacation Life Lesson Learned

*Please read to the end. I have a fun announcement!
As a mom, it's rare to come home from a vacation without being exhausted and feeling like you need a vacation from your vacation! Sometimes you might catch yourself yearning for your own bed and comforts of your own home. Thankfully, I just had a vacation where I didn't want to go home! I wept when we had to leave, literally! I didn't want to leave this magical place! The first morning back home I woke up and laced up my shoes and went for a meditative walk. I wanted to reflect and understand what it was that was so great about this vacation. Without boring you with my gratitude journal, I just want to share a gratitude that has to do with clutter and organization. When I was walking, for some reason I had a mantra running in my thoughts.
"Simple Abundance". "Abundance in Less". "My Life is FULL because I have LESS".
I realized that the peace I felt came from the simplicity of the place where we stayed. Imagine a hotel room. It is streamlined and not full of your belongings. You keep your items in your suitcase or you hang things up. Your toiletries are small and in an a small contained bag. Your mind finds unconscious peace in an environment with less. You can achieve the same thoughts in your own home. Make your home simple and clean without all of the clutter.
There is something to say about being in an environment where you don't have to wake up and calculate your to do list and daily schedule. Of course, when you get home the reality is that you must. But, what I learned was that the LESS I have to look at (clutter-less surfaces, things put away in their "homes") the more ABUNDANCE I have! The LESS I possess, the less my mind has to manage consciously and subconsciously.
The more you own the more your mind must manage "stuff"!
This week I'm giving you a challenge. If you are drowning in "stuff". Could you imagine your life without half of that clutter? Start small and make meaningful victories. For example, clean out one drawer. You can start with your sock drawer or junk drawer. Once you are done cleaning it out I GUARANTEE every time you open that drawer your thoughts will fill you with pride and an unconscious relief that will fill you with peace because your aren't stressed when looking at that messy, cluttered drawer!
De-cluttering tip: You must empty the drawer completely. You can't do a good job cleaning anything out without pulling it out of it's environment and touching each thing in that space. Have some cleaning supplies handy to wipe out the drawer before you put things back in.
PLEASE leave a comment on this blog and share what you cleaned out and your wonderful small victory. One victory will inspire you to find another place to declutter.
ANNOUNCEMENT
*Thank you for reading to the end! I'm starting a live Facebook time once a week to answer any questions pertaining to organizing and decluttering. No question is silly or off limits. You'd be surprised, maybe someone else has the exact same question. Perhaps you just need some motivation. I just want to be there for as many people as possible to get them to the place of peace, and comfort. No more overwhelm from your clutter!
Starting on Monday, July 2 @ 11am - every week at the same time. I will be live on my Facebook site answering any questions that are emailed to me. If there are no questions for that week I will still be there live to pass on some organizing tips.
