Pantry Organization

Thank you for visiting my blog today.
I've been doing a lot of little projects this summer and start of the school year so I thought I'd take some pictures of what's going on around here.
When we moved into this house the pantry in the kitchen had cupboard doors on it. There were some things in the kitchen that needed some attention and upgrading. There was a really small oven that couldn't fit a turkey in it and I always do a turkey, so we needed to purchase a new oven. The other inconvience about the oven was that it was set inside the pantry wall. When we used it the oven would get extremely hot and we couldn't have that. If you were to accidentally lean up against it your would get scorched!

So my husband decided to take the oven out of the pantry wall and make that space with more pantry shelves and a drawer. We ended up purchasing a new oven/stove top and put it where the stove top was in the kitchen area. Once we moved everything we decided not to put the cupboards doors back up on the pantry wall. So now we have this open pantry. I go back and forth with whether or not I like it open. I really need to keep it neat and organized if it stays without cupboard doors. We played around with the idea of putting up sliding barn doors but we have a doorway/stairs that lead down to our TV room that we can't cover up with sliding pantry doors. We found a solution to that issue by putting up three sliders but we haven't gotten around to it. So, hence the open pantry. Maybe one day soon we will put the barn doors up, but most everyone that comes over says to leave the pantry open.

To keep our things sweet and neat I found some cute baskets at Michael's. It was such a great day the day I found them. It was as if the stars were all lined up for my project and my shopping. Who doesn't like it best when you go out on a shopping mission and the things your need to buy are marked down 40%?? I was ready to purchase the baskets at full price because I wanted the job complete, but I was rewarded with the style I had envisioned and THEY WERE ON SALE!

The baskets had chalkboard plates hanging on the long side of the basket. I had to move them to the short side of the baskets because of the way I needed to display them. Then, I just used my liquid chalk pen to write what is to be stored in the baskets.
After Michael's I headed over to Bed Bath & Beyond to find some clear storage containers for snacks, rice, noodles, crackers, and cereal.

I also wanted to put to use some OXO Good Grips (click here to shop for the lazy susan online)spinning lazy susans because these shelves are very deep and I was having a hard time getting to the items stored in the back of the shelves.
I like the look of the cereal in the OXO clear containers, (click here to purchase these containers online)but the kids, not so much. They like to read the cereal boxes. So I don't always fill these up and they will get shoved to the back of the pantry every once in a while to make everyone happy.
The mason jars (click here to purchase online) are also from Michael's. I like the plastic wide mouth mason jar lids (click here to purchase online) because they don't rust when they get wet and I can throw them into the dishwasher.
Hopefully I inspired you to make your space Sweet and Neat... Until next time,
Keep it Sweet and Neat,
Stephanie
