Paper: Receipts

Thank you for visiting my blog today.

How many times have you gone to do a return or exchange but could not find the receipt? Countless times I'm sure. They are scattered throughout your car, your purse and your house. Even with a good plan in place, receipts can get lost. What I decided to do is to create my own receipt file system separate from my household file system. I turned a purse sized coupon file into my receipt file. I purchased this receipt file organizer because the file tabs were blank and I could write in my own categories (It also comes with pre-printed labels if you would like to use it for receipts). The secret to the success of this system is: As soon as you are handed a receipt from the sales clerk IT MUST GO INTO THE RECEIPT ORGANIZER! When the sales person asks if you want the receipt handed to you or in the bag NEVER put it in the bag!

This coupon organizer if from a company called Benton & Blair.(Click on the image to shop for this item online). It is made with a very nice canvas fabric and it has very strong velcro. There is elastic on the sides of the file so there is plenty of room for shoving all of your receipts inside! If you decide to use it for coupons, too, the strap is made to wrap around the shopping cart and stay tight and secure to the cart as your sift through your coupons while shopping.
I made my categories for receipt organizing by month January - December. I also added a file for Christmas and my business, Sweet and Neat. You can make your tabs fit your needs and lifestyle.
As the file gets full you can either purge the receipts once they are reconciled or move them to your household file system if you need to reference them in the future.
Keep it Sweet and Neat,
Stephanie
